Pool Maintenance
Regular service is the simplest way to keep your water clear and catch equipment problems early. Choose the schedule that fits your pool:

Weekly
Best for most pools in swim season, pools under trees, and busy family pools.
Bi-weekly
For pools with lighter use or good automation.
Monthly
A regular check-up on water and equipment for owners who handle day-to-day upkeep themselves.
Every visit includes:
- Skim leaves, pollen, and debris off the surface
- Brush walls, steps, and benches to keep algae from taking hold
- Vacuum the floor as needed
- Empty skimmer and pump baskets so water flows freely
- Empty your pool cleaner, and repair it when needed
- Test and balance the water: chlorine, pH, alkalinity, and other levels as needed
- Check and refill the automatic chlorinator
- Monitor filter pressure and backwash when it’s time
- Tell you about needed repairs before a small problem turns into a big one
Why it matters: Water chemistry affects more than how your pool looks. Corrosive water can damage plaster, liners, and the copper in heater heat exchangers. Scale-forming water leaves deposits on surfaces, salt cells, and equipment. Keeping it balanced protects your investment.

DE & Cartridge Filter Cleanings
Backwashing and quick rinses help, but over time oils, sunscreen, pollen, and fine debris get packed into the filter media. When that happens, pressure rises, flow drops, and the water dulls even with good chemistry.

DE filter cleaning
We take the filter apart, remove and clean the grid assembly, inspect the grids for tears, reassemble it, and recharge with fresh DE. Hayward recommends a full DE filter cleaning about once a year.
Cartridge filter cleaning
We remove the cartridges, rinse every pleat thoroughly, inspect for tears, crushed pleats, or worn end caps, and let you know if they’re due for replacement. Jandy recommends cleaning when pressure rises about 10 psi above the clean reading.
Good times to schedule: After spring pollen season, after a heavy storm or algae cleanup, and before you close or slow the pool down for winter.
Seasonal Openings & Closings
Available to all pool owners on a limited, by-appointment basis, with priority given to our regular maintenance customers. Call (704) 989-5191 to check availability.
Pumps & Filters
Your pump and filter keep the water moving and clean, and everything else on the pad depends on them. We troubleshoot, repair, and install pumps, motors, and filters, and we’ll give you a straight answer on whether a repair or a replacement makes more sense.

Pumps & Motors
The pump moves your water through everything else: filter, heater, salt cell, and back to the pool. When it struggles, everything downstream suffers.
We repair and replace pumps and motors, fix leaks and priming problems, and set up run schedules. Jandy pumps are the ones we see most around here, and we also work on Hayward pumps and Pentair WhisperFlo pumps.
Know before you replace: U.S. Department of Energy standards now require most new pool pump motors (1.15 to 5 total horsepower, made on or after September 29, 2025) to be variable-speed, and smaller motors have a later deadline. Variable-speed pumps let you run lower speeds for longer, which is usually quieter and more efficient. We’ll help you set speeds that keep your filter, heater, salt cell, and cleaner working properly.

Filters
Every filter has trade-offs. Here’s the short version, based on Hayward’s figures:
| Filter type | Catches particles down to | How it’s cleaned |
|---|---|---|
| Sand | About 20–40 microns | Backwash |
| Cartridge | About 10–20 microns | Remove and rinse cartridges; no backwashing, so less water wasted |
| DE (diatomaceous earth) | About 3–5 microns | Backwash and recharge with fresh DE; full teardown about once a year |
We install new sand, cartridge, and DE filters, replace cartridges and DE grids, repair valves and plumbing, and size filters to match your pump and pool. We can also cut out an existing sand filter and swap it for a DE or cartridge filter. Bigger is usually better, because a larger filter can go longer between cleanings.

Salt Systems & Chlorinators
Salt Systems & Chlorinators

A salt chlorine generator turns dissolved salt into chlorine as water passes through the cell. It’s not chlorine-free, it just makes its own chlorine on-site. Many owners like the softer-feeling water and fewer chlorine runs.
Salt cells need attention:
- Scale: White, crusty buildup forms on the cell plates when water is hard or out of balance. Many cells reverse polarity on their own to fight scale, but they still need inspection. Jandy recommends checking a new AquaPure cell monthly at first and removing it for inspection at least twice a year.
- Salt level: Each brand specifies its own range. Many Hayward systems, for example, call for 2,700–3,400 ppm.
- Stabilizer: Cyanuric acid protects chlorine from the sun. Hayward recommends 30–50 ppm for outdoor salt pools.
- Cold water: Some units, like the Jandy AquaPure, stop producing chlorine when the water gets cold (below about 51°F).
We repair and replace salt cells, power centers, and flow sensors, clean scaled cells, and service traditional automatic chlorinators. Jandy salt systems are the ones we see most around here, and we work on Hayward cells too.

Heaters
Pool Heater & Heat Pump Repair
There are two main ways to heat a pool, and in the Carolinas both have a place.
Heat pumps (like AquaCal, Jandy, Raypak, and Hayward models) don’t burn fuel. They pull heat from the outside air and move it into your water. AquaCal says its heat pumps typically deliver 100 kWh of heat for 20–40 kWh of electricity. They work best when the air is warm, which makes them a good fit for stretching your season into late spring and early fall here. They heat more slowly than gas.
Gas heaters (like the Jandy JXi and JXiQ, the Raypak R406A, and the Hayward Universal H-Series) burn natural gas or propane. They heat fast regardless of air temperature, which makes them a good fit for spas, quick warm-ups, and cool spring and fall weekends. Jandy JXi heaters and the Raypak R406A are two of the gas heaters we see most often around here.
Heaters We Service

Which one makes sense? If you want to keep the pool warm all season at a lower operating cost, a heat pump is usually the better choice. If you want heat on demand, or have a spa, gas often wins. Some homeowners use both.
We repair and install both types, and we’re a warranty station for all Jandy, Raypak, and Hayward equipment, including their heaters and heat pumps, plus AquaCal heat pumps. We also repair Pentair MasterTemp heaters; our warranty work covers only the brands above.
Pool Cleaners
Pool Cleaners

- Suction cleaners run off your pool’s pump and skimmer. They’re simple and affordable, and they send debris to your filter.
- Pressure cleaners run off a return line, often with a booster pump, and collect debris in their own bag. They’re good for heavy leaf loads.
- Robotic cleaners plug in separately, have their own filter, and usually climb walls and clean the waterline.
We empty your cleaner on every maintenance visit, and we repair and install suction, pressure, and robotic cleaners, including worn hoses, tires, tracks, and seals.
We repair and service Polaris cleaners, including the 360, 380, ALPHA series, EPIC, and FREEDOM models. We’re also a warranty station for Polaris cleaners, which are made by the same company as Jandy (both are Fluidra brands).

Automation & Lighting
Pool Lighting
Good lighting makes your pool safer to use after dark and a lot nicer to look at. We repair and replace pool and spa lights, and we upgrade older incandescent and halogen fixtures to LED.
- Jandy lights: Many pools in our area have Jandy lights, including Jandy WaterColors color-changing LEDs. We also install and service Jandy Nicheless LED lights, which are low-voltage and don’t need a traditional light niche.
- Hayward lights: A good number of local pools have Hayward lights. We service and install Hayward Universal ColorLogic (UCL) LED lights, which Hayward designs to retrofit into virtually any existing in-ground pool or spa niche. If your pool has an original Hayward UCL light, it needs to be upgraded to the newer UCL 2.0, and we handle that swap for you.
- Repairs: Light out, flickering, or not changing colors? We track down whether it’s the fixture, the wiring, or the controller, and tell you whether a repair or a replacement makes more sense.
- LED upgrades: Hayward says its LED lights can last up to 10 times longer than incandescent or halogen pool lights, and LEDs open up color shows and app control with compatible automation.

Automation Upgrades
Have an older automation system that you can only run from the panel at your equipment pad? In many cases we can upgrade it instead of replacing it, so you can control your pool and spa from your phone. We install and set up upgrades for the two systems we see most around here.

For Jandy AquaLink systems. Jandy’s iQ30 iAquaLink 3.0 kit brings an older Jandy AquaLink RS or PDA system up to date and connects it to your home internet over Wi-Fi or a wired connection. With the free iAquaLink app, you can turn your filter pump, heater, lights, cleaner, waterfalls, and other connected equipment on and off and set pool and spa temperatures from anywhere, like warming up the spa on your way home. We install the kit, update your system, and get the app running on your phone.

For Hayward ProLogic systems. Hayward’s OmniPL retrofit kit upgrades an existing Hayward ProLogic (P4, PS4, or PS8), AquaLogic, or AquaPlus control to Hayward’s Omni platform by swapping in a new main board and adding a touchscreen display, without replacing the whole system. The OmniLogic app then lets you run your pumps, lights, salt system, and more from your phone, and it works on chlorine pools too, not just salt. We install the kit, reconnect your equipment, and get the app running on your phone.
Not sure what you have? Send us a photo of the control panel on your equipment pad. We’ll tell you whether your system can be upgraded and which kit it needs. One heads-up for Hayward owners: older ProLogic and AquaLogic remote controls don’t work after the OmniPL upgrade, but Hayward’s OmniLogic remotes do.
Warranty Station: Jandy, Polaris, Raypak, Hayward & AquaCal
We’re a warranty station for all Jandy, Raypak, and Hayward equipment (pumps, filters, heaters, salt systems, and more), Polaris pool cleaners, and AquaCal heat pumps. That means we can perform manufacturer warranty repairs locally.
Did you know? Polaris pool cleaners are made by the same company as Jandy. Both are Fluidra brands, so we handle Polaris cleaner warranty work too.
How it works:
- Call us with the brand, model, and serial number (on the unit’s rating label) and a short description of the problem.
- We diagnose it on-site.
- We confirm coverage with the manufacturer. Many manufacturers, Raypak included, require approval before warranty work starts.
- We make the repair with the right parts.
Protect your warranty:
Register your equipment.
Jandy, Hayward, Raypak, and AquaCal all offer online product registration. For some brands and models, registering can extend your coverage. Raypak and Hayward both tie extended coverage to registration on certain products.
Keep your receipt and install date.
Manufacturers usually ask for them.
Buy from a pool professional.
Jandy’s limited warranty, for example, does not cover Jandy equipment bought online, except certain valves, parts, and accessories, and requires qualified professional installation.
Warranty terms vary by brand, model, and install date. We’ll help you sort out what’s covered.
